Islamabad, May 9, 2025: A false security advisory claiming a major incident near the Wahga Border has been categorically dismissed as baseless by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore’s office.
The hoax sparked unnecessary fear among citizens until officials stepped in with clarification.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the DC Lahore office confirmed that no security incident has occurred near the Wahga Border or its surrounding areas.
“This advisory is fake. Citizens are urged not to believe in rumors,” the statement read. Authorities stressed that maintaining public safety remains their highest priority and reassured that any real threat would be reported via trusted, official sources.
The forged message, falsely attributed to DC Lahore Syed Musa, claimed a violent outbreak near Wahga that allegedly resulted in multiple casualties.
The message further suggested that military forces had sealed major routes such as Burki, Bedian, and the BRB Canal, urging residents of DHA Phase 8, Askari 11, Paragon City, and Green City to evacuate immediately with ID cards and essential items.
Security analysts noted that such misinformation, especially involving sensitive areas like Wahga Border, can have serious repercussions, including public panic and disruption of civic life.

Social media platforms played a key role in circulating the fake advisory, raising concerns about the unchecked spread of false alerts.
Authorities are now investigating the origin of the fabricated message. In the meantime, officials have appealed to the public to remain calm and vigilant. “Always verify any such news through government portals or local administration,” said an official familiar with the matter.
