Islamabad, June 30, 2025: In a shocking revelation, the District Education Authority (DEA) Lahore has uncovered nearly 45,000 fake student enrolments in public schools across the city. The discovery came after a detailed audit aimed at verifying official student data.

The fake entries had been artificially boosting school enrolment statistics, exposing serious irregularities within the Punjab public education system. Following their removal, the number of verified enrolments in Lahore dropped to 575,000, well below the official target.

The DEA had set an ambitious enrolment goal of 637,000 students by October 31, 2025. The audit findings have not only widened the enrolment gap but also raised questions about transparency and data integrity within the system.

In response, the DEA has served notices to the schools involved, demanding explanations and warning of strict disciplinary actions. Despite this setback, efforts are underway to correct the course.

As of the latest update, verified enrolment numbers have improved, reaching 616,000 students after active campaigns by school staff and administrators. However, 21,000 more students still need to be enrolled to meet the official deadline.
