Islamabad, June 22, 2025: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, Dr. Athar Waheed, has unveiled a cutting-edge mobile application that is set to revolutionize the city’s traffic enforcement system by enhancing e-challan recovery and expediting vehicle verification processes.

The newly launched app, now integrated with the existing Wardens App, enables officers to access complete vehicle records and detect outstanding e-challan fines with a simple photograph. This AI-powered visual identification tool replaces the outdated method where traffic wardens had to stop vehicles and manually input registration details via LT wireless devices.

According to Dr. Waheed, this innovation has already shown significant results. “Daily recovery has jumped from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 5 million in just one month,” he stated. In a focused operation targeting government vehicles alone, Rs. 3.5 million out of Rs. 9.4 million in unpaid fines has been collected within weeks.

To tackle the staggering Rs. 6 billion in pending challans citywide, specialized recovery teams have been deployed. With the new system’s speed and accuracy, officials are optimistic that a major portion of these dues will be recovered soon.

This digital leap by the Lahore Traffic Police not only promises better enforcement but also streamlines checks, reduces delays, and supports safer road habits across the city.
