Islamabad, June 5, 2025: The Lahore traffic police has begun fitting its traffic wardens with body-mounted cameras in a bid to enhance transparency and ensure accountability in traffic regulation. These cameras are being seamlessly incorporated into the wardens’ uniforms.

As per Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Athar Waheed, the implementation will began with Lahore traffic police stationed along Mall Road. The key objective is to document all real-time interactions between wardens and drivers. This step guarantees that no traffic fine is issued without video proof, thereby safeguarding the rights of both law enforcers and citizens.

Dr. Waheed further mentioned that strict legal steps will be taken against anyone attempting to obstruct official responsibilities. The recorded visuals will not only validate the issuance of fines but also assist in monitoring public behavior during rallies, demonstrations, and other major gatherings.

Details regarding expansion to other areas remain undisclosed. It is also uncertain whether similar steps will be adopted in other cities. However, if the initiative proves effective in Lahore, it is likely that comparable systems will be introduced elsewhere across the country.
