Islamabad, July 3, 2025: Laptop Mag shuts down after 35 years, marking the end of an era in mobile technology reporting. The announcement was made in a staff meeting led by Faisal Alani, Global Brand Director at Future PLC. Alani stated, “After careful consideration and a review of our long-term strategy, we’ve decided to close the Laptop Mag business effective today.”
Laptop Mag, a trusted name in laptop reviews and tech news, was launched in 1991 by Bedford Communications as the Laptop Buyers Guide and Handbook. Over the years, it became a go-to source for consumers seeking reliable insights on laptops and mobile devices.
In 2011, the brand was acquired by TechMedia Network (later Purch) and transitioned to digital-only content in 2013. The magazine was eventually acquired by Future PLC in 2018, the same company that owns PC Gamer, TechRadar, and Tom’s Guide.
Alani expressed appreciation for the editorial team’s hard work, saying, “We are incredibly grateful for your dedication, talent, and contributions to Laptop Mag, and we are committed to supporting you throughout this transition.”
The shutdown follows Future PLC’s recent closure of AnandTech, indicating a continued reduction in the company’s tech media portfolio.

It is still uncertain whether Laptop Mag’s digital archives will remain accessible to readers. Future PLC has yet to provide an official update on this matter.
