Islamabad, May 6, 2025: AC Milan kept their slim hopes of a top-four finish alive with a 2-1 comeback win against Genoa on a rain-drenched night in Serie A.
The victory came courtesy of a second-half surge, sparked by Rafael Leao’s equaliser and capped off by an own goal from Morten Frendrup.
The win leaves Milan ninth in the league on 57 points, six behind fourth-placed Juventus with only three matches left.
While the gap remains wide, the result keeps them mathematically in the race for a Champions League spot.

Milan struggled for long spells, with Genoa controlling much of the first half. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan was vital in keeping the visitors out, making several key saves.
The Rossoneri showed glimpses of life late in the first half, with Christian Pulisic going close, only to be denied by a sharp stop from Genoa’s Nicola Leali.
The second half began slowly, with neither side able to take control, as the constant downpour disrupted the flow of the game.
Genoa eventually broke through in the 61st minute when Vitinha, having just come on, finished off a precise cross with his first touch to give his team the lead.

Milan responded in the 76th minute through Leao, whose low shot deflected off a defender and found the back of the net.
The equaliser came after a smart run from Santiago Gimenez, whose cutback created the chance.
Just two minutes later, Milan turned the game on its head when Frendrup, attempting to clear a low cross, accidentally directed the ball into his own goal.
Leao almost added a third in stoppage time with a powerful shot, but Leali did well to push it away.
Milan now prepare for back-to-back meetings with Bologna in the league and Coppa Italia final, hoping to carry their momentum forward.
