Islamabad, 27 March 2025: Tom Latham to miss ODI series against Pakistan after fracturing his right hand during training earlier this week.
The injury occurred while Latham was batting in the nets, and an X-ray confirmed the fracture.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has stated that Latham will require at least four weeks of rest and rehabilitation, wearing a cast during this time.
As a result, Henry Nicholls has been added to the squad. Nicholls, who has played 78 ODIs, is returning to form after recovering from a calf injury.
He has scored five half-centuries in six innings in domestic cricket, showcasing his readiness for the international stage.

Michael Bracewell, who captained New Zealand during the T20I series, will now take over as captain for the ODI series.
Latham was initially set to lead the team in the absence of regular captain Mitchell Santner, who is currently playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Blackcaps will also be without opener Will Young for the second and third ODIs. Young will return home as his wife is expecting their first child.
He will play in the series opener on March 29 in Napier before being replaced by uncapped Canterbury batter Rhys Mariu, who has received his first international call-up.

Head coach Gary Stead acknowledged the changes in the squad and expressed his well-wishes for Latham’s recovery.
Stead highlighted the need for flexibility due to player unavailability and the opportunities it creates, including Nicholls’ return and Mariu’s debut.
Stead also expressed support for Young and his family during this special time, wishing them all the best.
The first ODI between Pakistan and New Zealand will take place on March 29, following New Zealand’s recent 4-1 victory in the T20I series.
