Islamabad, Aug 28: Along with demolishing six homes, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed forty more premises on Wednesday as part of its ongoing operation against unlawful construction and commercial fee defaulters in the provincial capital. The teams operated at Timber Market, Gujjarpura, Gulshan Ravi, and Shadman as directed by Director General LDA Muhammad Tahir Farooq.
Two illegal structures were removed from Gujjarpura and four illegal constructions in the Timber Market were dismantled. Twenty properties in Gulshan Ravi, including banks, food stores, clinics, and private schools, were sealed by the LDA teams for failing to pay commercial rates. In addition, five properties on Main Boulevard Shadman and Jail Road were blocked because standard operating procedures (SOPs) were not followed and construction materials were present.
Unlicensed stores were dismantled at Timber Market, and a wedding hall in Gujjarpura was largely demolished to make way for unlicensed building. Additionally, more than 20 properties in Sabzazar and Mustafa Town were sealed by LDA Town Planning Zone Two officials due to non-payment of commercial fees. Private schools, supermarkets, real estate offices, tailors, bike shops, catering establishments, and steel businesses were among these properties. The owners of these properties received multiple notices prior to the operation. Tahir Farooq, the DG LDA, reaffirmed that there will be no exceptions in the ongoing crackdown on unauthorized building and commercial fee defaulters.
