Islamabad, Jan 30: In a major operation against illegal commercial activities and fee defaulters, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 105 properties across the city on Wednesday. The crackdown, led by Chief Town Planners Asad Dogar and Azhar Ali, targeted unauthorized commercial establishments in multiple areas.
Massive Sealing Drive Across Lahore
In Johar Town’s Khayaban-e-Firdousi, LDA teams sealed 30 properties engaged in unauthorized commercial activities, including cafés, restaurants, and private offices, despite the road being designated for commercial use. Similarly, 34 properties in Sabzazar were shut down for similar violations.
Additional actions were taken in Canal Road, New Muslim Town, and Shadman, where 30 properties were sealed, and another 11 properties, including private schools, clinics, and shops, were closed in Faisal Town. Officials had issued prior warnings before taking these enforcement measures.

LDA’s Ongoing Urban Development Plans
LDA Director General (DG) Tahir Farooq personally inspected Main Boulevard Gulberg and Liberty Chowk, assessing the operations carried out by LDA, TEPA, and the district administration. During his visit, he emphasized Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s directive to transform Main Boulevard Gulberg into a model road by eliminating illegal parking and encroachments.
He instructed authorities to clear debris, remove unauthorized signboards, and ensure strict compliance with urban planning regulations.
Road Infrastructure and Traffic Management
To enhance road infrastructure and traffic flow, the DG directed immediate asphalting and service lane improvements from Liberty Chowk to Gaddafi Stadium. These upgrades are being expedited ahead of an upcoming international cricket event. Additionally, a dedicated biker lane is under construction on Ferozepur Road to promote safer commuting for motorcyclists.
In a separate development, a delegation of trainee officers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) visited the LDA headquarters in Johar Town. Additional DG Headquarters Dr. Mujtaba Arafat briefed them on LDA’s ongoing projects, urban planning strategies, and enforcement measures to ensure sustainable city development.
