Xiaomi is gearing up to introduce its debut foldable smartphone, the Mix Flip, signaling the brand’s foray into the flip phone segment. This development follows years after the original Mix Flip prototype, codenamed “argo,” was put on hold.
It’s common knowledge that Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun personally evaluates each new smartphone. Recently, Lei Jun was seen using what appears to be the Mix Flip. While the device was only partially visible, its distinctive features align with Xiaomi’s flip phone design. Just a month before the official unveiling of the Mix Flip, a photo surfaced showing Lei Jun with this new foldable phone.
These images suggest that the device in question is indeed the Mix Flip, recognizable by its unique structure. Xiaomi is expected to formally introduce this smartphone alongside other models in July.
Anticipation is mounting for Xiaomi’s July launch event, where the Mix Flip, Mix Fold 4, Redmi K70 Ultra, and several other devices are anticipated to make their debut.
This launch coincides with Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, where the latest foldable devices including the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 will be revealed. Samsung currently dominates the foldable market, lacking significant competition globally. Most Chinese competitors tend to focus on their domestic market, and a similar trend is anticipated for Xiaomi’s upcoming foldables.
