Despite the government setting the official price at Rs. 76 per kilogram, market vendors are charging significantly higher rates, ranging from Rs. 200 to Rs. 250 per kilogram.
This has sparked concerns over profiteering, with traders allegedly taking advantage of increased demand.
A vendor candidly admitted to price manipulation, stating, “I purchase lemons at Rs. 160 per kilogram and resell them for Rs. 250 or even Rs. 300 to maximize profits.”
Frustrated citizens are urging the authorities to intervene and regulate market prices.
They are calling for strict action against profiteers to curb artificial inflation and ensure fair pricing for essential commodities.
