The issue of the AMI smart single-phase meters crisis has become even more complicated. A deadlock has emerged between LESCO and the meter manufacturing companies over the outsourcing of smart meters. The companies have refused to sell meters to consumers under the conditions set by LESCO.

According to details, due to the deadlock between meter manufacturers and LESCO, no meters have been issued for the past month. LESCO had issued a notification on October 6 to purchase smart meters from the open market.

It was required that the meters sold to consumers must be deposited in the regional store first, and after being submitted, the meters would be handed over to the relevant XENs.

LESCO also made it mandatory that meters would only be issued to consumers through this post-purchase system. However, the meter manufacturing companies refused to submit the meters to the regional stores. Due to this deadlock, consumers, even after obtaining NOCs, are now facing great difficulty and running from place to place.
