Islamabad, Mar 10, 2025: Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has sanctioned a substantial initiative worth Rs. 1.6 billion to upgrade its billing infrastructure and combat power theft.
This transformative project involves deploying cutting-edge smart meters to facilitate precise billing and real-time consumption tracking.
As part of this plan, LESCO aims to procure 16,000 sophisticated meters, including bidirectional smart meters tailored for solar energy users and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters for industrial setups, agricultural tube wells, and fresh connections.
These modern devices will be integrated into a centralized monitoring system via SIM-based technology, ensuring automated and highly accurate meter readings without any manual intervention.

With this upgrade, electricity bills will be generated directly based on real-time readings transmitted from the control center, effectively eliminating billing discrepancies and preventing excessive charges.

LESCO authorities anticipate that smart metering will drastically enhance operational efficiency and promote fair billing practices for all consumers.
