Islamabad, Mar 13, 2025: The Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) is set to introduce inverter fans to help curb electricity consumption.
The initiative aims to replace 80 million conventional ceiling fans with advanced energy-efficient inverter technology, significantly reducing power usage across households and businesses.
As per recent reports, LESCO has submitted a formal draft to its Board of Directors (BoD) for approval.
Once the proposal is sanctioned, an agreement will be finalized with the National Energy Conservation Authority (NECA) to facilitate the distribution of these energy-saving fans to consumers.
This strategic move aligns with national efforts to enhance energy efficiency and lower overall electricity demand.
Consumers will have the opportunity to acquire these inverter fans, which promise substantial reductions in electricity usage compared to traditional models.

Additionally, government officials have requested LESCO’s electricity consumption records from the last three years to assess energy usage patterns before rolling out the initiative.
This data-driven approach will ensure a seamless transition and maximize energy savings.
The program is expected to contribute to an estimated annual reduction of 5,000 megawatts in power consumption, thereby alleviating the load on the national electricity grid.
Conventional fans tend to consume excessive electricity due to their outdated motor technology, whereas inverter fans incorporate advanced energy-saving mechanisms to enhance efficiency and performance.
To make the shift more convenient for the public, the government is planning to introduce flexible installment plans, enabling consumers to afford these modern fans without financial strain.
Once the formalities are completed, LESCO will release comprehensive details on the procedure for acquiring the inverter fans, ensuring widespread accessibility and participation in the program.
