Bayern had earlier seen a lower bid of around 58.5 million euros rejected by Liverpool. But after renewed talks and an improved offer, the two clubs have now reached an agreement. Diaz, who still had two years remaining on his Liverpool contract, is now close to completing his move to the German champions.
The transfer could help Liverpool unlock funds to pursue other targets, including Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, who has been on their radar. Bayern, on the other hand see Diaz as a key addition to their attacking options as they rebuild for the new season.
