Islamabad, June 12, 2025: Rajkummar Rao takes a dramatic turn in his upcoming film ‘Maalik’, a gritty gangster saga where he shares the screen for the first time with former Miss World Manushi Chhillar. Showcasing a compelling chemistry between the two, the film’s first song ‘Naamumkin’ has just been released, offering a tender look into the softer side of a man forged by violence.
Unlike the hardened persona viewers might expect, Rao’s character is portrayed wrestling with emotions, as love unexpectedly enters his life. Manushi’s role becomes the emotional tether to his chaotic existence, offering a sense of calm in an otherwise ruthless world.
Written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by the celebrated musical duo Sachin-Jigar, the track is beautifully sung by Varun Jain and Shreya Ghoshal. The music delicately captures the ache of impossible love, standing in stark contrast to the film’s turbulent backdrop of crime and ambition.
The Rajkummar-Manushi duo first caught public attention when the film’s trailer hit screens shortly after Maalik was revealed. Audiences were quick to take note of Rao’s transformation—stepping into the shoes of a morally unbound gangster with a dark charisma.

“There are two kinds of men in this world,” Rao’s character declares in the teaser. “One earns his bread with sweat. The other snatches it with both blood and sweat. I belong to the latter. Hero or villain? Doesn’t matter. In my story, I’m always the hero.”
Helmed by director Pulkit, Maalik also features powerhouse performances from Prosenjit Chatterjee, Medha Shankr, Huma Qureshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Swanand Kirkire. The project was officially revealed on Rao’s 40th birthday, August 31, and has been gaining momentum ever since.
