Islamabad, July 28, 2025: Manchester United defeated West Ham 2-1 in a thrilling U.S. pre-season friendly at MetLife Stadium, kicking off their tour with a solid win.

Manchester United defeated West Ham United in a pre-season friendly held in the United States. The match took place at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as part of the Premier League Summer Series. Bruno Fernandes was the standout performer for United, scoring both goals. He converted a penalty in the fifth minute after West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola committed a foul in the box. Later in the second half, Fernandes added a second goal with a precise finish from the edge of the area.

West Ham got one back not long after when Jarrod Bowen scored in the 63rd minute, finishing a quick move with a low shot past the goalkeeper. Despite some late pressure from West Ham, Manchester United held on to their lead, with help from a crucial save by goalkeeper Altay Bayindir late in the game.

The game marked a positive start to the US tour for United’s new manager Ruben Amorim. Midfielders Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte showed promise, while new signing Matheus Cunha impressed with his build up play.
