Islamabad, Apr 24, 2025: Renowned Pakistani fashion house Maria B is facing criticism following allegations from Turkish Pakistani influencer Türkan Atay, who claims the brand failed to pay her after a joint project in Turkey.
The issue has gained widespread attention, igniting discussions across social media and fashion forums.
In a formal statement, Maria B responded to the controversy, asserting their long-standing credibility in the Pakistani fashion industry. “Over the past 25 years, we have collaborated with hundreds of content creators and have always honored our obligations,” the brand shared.
They acknowledged a delay in payment to Atay, citing a communication error, and stated that efforts were made to schedule a dialogue for resolution.
According to their version, Atay chose instead to escalate the issue publicly by posting a viral video that, they claim, aimed to tarnish the brand’s image.
Atay, however, did not back down. She reaffirmed her stance, asserting that Maria B never responded to her messages and only attempted contact after her video went live. “It’s no longer about money,” she commented under news posts. “It’s about dignity. I have screenshots to support my claims.”
As the Maria B payment controversy unfolds, the public remains divided.
While some consumers vouch for Maria B’s legacy and reliability, others support Atay and advocate for ethical brand behavior and influencer rights.
Meanwhile, media outlets have presented both narratives, with some calling Atay’s actions potentially damaging, while others point to her insistence on having proof as a reason for ongoing public interest.
