The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday ordered a complete ban on commercial activities on Sundays to help curb smog in the city.
The court also instructed the government to strictly enforce a 10.00 pm deadline for wedding halls.
During the hearing on environmental and smog-related petitions, the court emphasized that issuing notifications alone is not sufficient; strict implementation is required. A director-level officer from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been directed to appear at every hearing to ensure compliance.
The court noted that rising pollution levels are worsening the smog problem and highlighted that the Sunday ban and restrictions on commercial operations aim to address environmental concerns.
