Islamabad, June 5, 2025: The Rohini Theatre in Chennai turned into a festival ground as crowds swelled for the grand unveiling of Thug Life, starring the legendary Kamal Haasan. The anticipation among fans was electric as cheers echoed loud and some broke into dances when the long-awaited film finally hit the big screen.

Actor Kamal Haasan expressed heartfelt gratitude to his fans and praised the experience of reuniting with iconic filmmaker Mani Ratnam, marking a powerful collaboration after nearly four decades.

Speaking to the press a day earlier, Haasan recalled how deeply involved he was in shaping the film. “Working with Mani Ratnam is never routine. I brought him ideas, small touches, suggestions—like seasoning in a dish. He cooked up the story, but I was there in the kitchen,” he said with a smile. “That’s how true collaborations work. We’re both born of cinema. That’s our common language.”

Haasan credited the magic of Thug Life to its collective cast and technical brilliance. “Great actors, skilled designers and of course, the incomparable A.R. Rahman. He doesn’t just compose music, he lifts the film.”

That’s when I actually started learning outside of school.”
