Islamabad, 20 April 2025:Matthew Short has been ruled out of PSL 10 due to an injury picked up during the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year.

Islamabad United confirmed the withdrawal Matthew Short, noting his discomfort returned during training despite earlier signs of recovery.

Medical evaluations led to a mutual decision between the player and the team management to prioritise his long-term fitness.

“After careful assessment, both parties agreed it would be best for Matt’s health and career to withdraw from the tournament,” the statement said.

Islamabad United extended its full support to the 27-year-old cricketer, praising his professionalism and positive attitude during his time with the team.

The franchise wished him a swift recovery and confirmed that he had returned to Australia to continue rehabilitation under the guidance of CA medical staff.

While no replacement for the Australian cricketer has been announced yet, Islamabad United remain focused and unbeaten in the tournament so far.

The defending champions have claimed victory in all three of their opening matches and currently top the PSL 10 points table.

Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings follow in second and third place, respectively.

The ongoing edition of PSL, which kicked off on April 11, features six teams battling across 34 matches.

The tournament ends with the final on May 18, with matches held across Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Multan, attracting big crowds and viewership.

 Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is set to stage 13 games, including the Eliminators and grand final.

Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was assigned host 11 matches, including the all-important Qualifier 1 and the opening ceremony. Karachi and Multan will each see five high-energy fixtures.

The three times champions are currently playing against Karachi Kings in the 10th encounter of the marquee event.
