Islamabad, Oct 29: Matthew Wade joins Australia’s coaching staff for Pakistan series
Matthew Wade will join the coaching team for the three-match T20I series against the Green Shirts, according to Cricket Australia’s announcement of yet another coaching change ahead of the Pakistan series.
After a 13-year international career that included 225 games in all formats, Wade has formally declared his retirement from cricket. and was sent right away to serve as the national team’s assistant coach, concentrating on fielding and wicketkeeping. He is very qualified for the position because he recently earned his Level Three coaching certification.
It is anticipated that the 36-year-old will continue to play white-ball cricket for the Hobart Hurricanes, Tasmania, and a few international competitions.
He is remembered by Pakistani supporters as the player who, in the semi-finals, stunningly knocked out their nation’s dreams of winning the 2021 T20 World Cup. His 41 off 17 balls contributed to Australia winning the format for the first time.
It is anticipated that Josh Inglis would replace Matthew Wade as the Australian team’s wicketkeeper. Wade is expected to collaborate closely with Josh Inglis during the Pakistan series, having already supported him as his T20I successor.
CA stated that head coach Andrew McDonald will depart the team prior to the T20 series, leaving Andre Borovec to take over as coach, with Wade at his side. This means that the coaching staff will have their work cut out for them.
With Jason Gillespie filling in as interim coach following Gary Kirsten’s departure, Pakistan is adding its own drama to the coaching whirlpool.
