Islamabad, May 28, 2025: Authorities have firmly rejected social media rumors of Mauritania Hajj flight crash into the Red Sea that was carrying pilgrims from the country.
El Waly Taha, Director of Hajj at Mauritania’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, confirmed that all pilgrims from Mauritania are safe and have reached the Holy Land without any mishap.
The clarification comes in response to widely circulated posts claiming: “Mauritanian Hajj Flight Crash into Red Sea: 210 Pilgrims Feared Missing.” The false report was accompanied by an image showing the crash site. Some sources even alleged that the Mauritania Airways flight had 220 people onboard at the time of the alleged incident.

Officials have now completely denied these accusations. “All our flights safe,” Mauritania Airlines affirmed. The airline disclosed that three scheduled flights on May 23, 24 and 25 safely transported all pilgrims to Makkah.

In a press release, the airline stated “We operated three outbound flights for this year’s Hajj season and all three reached their desired destination safely.”
In related news, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reported thatover 1 million pilgrims from across the globe have so far arrived in the Kingdom to perform Hajj.
