Islamabad, 22 April 2025: Real Madrid‘s star forward Kylian Mbappe is expected to make a comeback for the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
The French striker had been sidelined with an ankle injury sustained during Madrid’s Champions League exit to Arsenal and missed Monday’s narrow 1-0 La Liga victory over Athletic Bilbao.
Ancelotti also provided an update on defender Ferland Mendy, who is recovering from a hamstring problem. Both players, he said, are on track to resume training ahead of Saturday’s crucial final.
The Madrid boss explained that while neither Mbappe nor Mendy would feature in the midweek fixture, they were progressing well in recovery.

He believed both would be fit and available for the weekend showdown with Barcelona.
Ancelotti added that the squad selection for the upcoming game against Getafe would be based on player fatigue following their recent match.
He noted that some players were still feeling the effects of Sunday’s clash but reassured that such fatigue was typical at this point in the season.
Ancelotti also praised Getafe for their organisation and intensity, saying his team was mentally prepared for the challenge.

Speaking about Mbappe’s current situation, Ancelotti mentioned that the forward was frustrated by his injury and eager to contribute.
He said Mbappe was doing all he could to return to action and support the team in the final.
Meanwhile, questions continue to surround Ancelotti’s future at Real Madrid.
Following the club’s Champions League disappointment, speculation has intensified that the Italian manager may leave at the end of the season.
Among the names being linked as potential replacements are Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, both of whom are reportedly being considered by the Madrid board.
