Islamabad, Feb 2: The investigation into the MDCAT 2024 retest conducted by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) has concluded, with the final report set to be submitted to the high court, as confirmed by ARY News.

This inquiry was initiated after concerns arose regarding possible grace marking in the retest. A special nine-member committee, appointed by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), carefully examined the situation and prepared the investigation report.

The MDCAT retest, held on December 30, 2024, saw the participation of over 12,500 students from all corners of Pakistan. SZABMU adhered to its standard examination procedures, ensuring transparency with thorough pre- and post-exam analyses.

The comprehensive review found no evidence supporting the claims of grace marking. In fact, the investigation revealed that 2,061 candidates scored above 170 marks, with 1,496 of these top scorers coming from Punjab.

The retest was ordered by the Sindh High Court (SHC) following allegations of a paper leak. In response to these claims, the Sindh government directed IBA Sukkur to oversee the re-administration of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for 2024. This decision aimed to uphold the integrity and fairness of the exam process.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has already been informed of the updated schedule, and the roll numbers and examination center assignments are expected to be announced next week.

This move aims to restore public confidence in the MDCAT process and ensure that the examination system remains fair and transparent for all candidates. With a rigorous review and transparent examination process in place, the SZABMU and PMDC are committed to maintaining the integrity of the admissions system and providing equal opportunities for all aspiring medical professionals.
