Islamabad, Aug 4, 2025: Dele Alli will move on from Como this summer after making only a single appearance for the Italian side. The midfielder had joined on a free transfer in January, following his release from Everton at the end of the 2023-24 season, but saw red merely ten minutes into his first game.
He didn’t feature again for Como after that dismissal and is now eyeing a new direction in his professional path.
Once regarded as one of the most thrilling young players in English football, Dele’s rise began at MK Dons, where a standout season led to a move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2015.
He hit the ground running in the top flight, scoring ten goals and delivering eight assists in his debut campaign. One unforgettable goal came against Crystal Palace where he controlled the ball, flicked it over his own head, and volleyed it into the bottom corner.
His next season was even more outstanding. At just 20, he managed 18 goals and nine assists while also leaving his mark in the Champions League and FA Cup. That period also saw his first call-up to the England squad with many tipping him as the face of the country’s footballing hopes.

However, things took a turn after a decent 2019-20 run, with injuries and dips in form limiting his impact. He parted ways with Tottenham in 2022 and later opened up in a 2023 interview about the emotional struggles that affected his game.
Some reports in Italy claimed he might hang up his boots but The Telegraph denied those rumors stating he is weighing his options after being informed he isn’t in Cesc Fabregas future plans, possibly considering a return to England.
The pressure he carried as a young prodigy was immense. The spotlight never dimmed and the constant demands likely took their toll. Still, this summer offers Dele a chance to wipe the slate clean and fall in love with the sport all over again.
