The ongoing dispute over milk prices in Karachi has finally been resolved after talks between dairy farmers and milk sellers. Under the new agreement, the wholesale price of cow milk has been set at Rs. 175 per litre, while buffalo milk will now be sold at Rs. 225 per litre.

Earlier, dairy farmers had announced a Rs. 20 per litre increase from November, leading to protests and boycott threats from the retailers’ union. However, after negotiations, both sides agreed to a smaller Rs. 5 per litre rise instead.

Despite the new official rates, milk continues to sell between Rs. 220 and Rs. 250 per litre in retail markets. The government’s official rate list still fixes milk at Rs. 170 per litre, but district authorities have failed to ensure compliance.
