Islamabad, Apr 3, 2025: Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal, has called on Pakistani entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia to actively contribute to enhancing economic ties with the Kingdom.
Addressing a gathering organized by the Pakistani business diaspora in Jeddah, he underscored that fostering stronger trade connections would solidify diplomatic and economic cooperation between the two nations.
During his speech, Minister Ahsan Iqbal introduced the core elements of the 5Es framework, a fundamental component of the ‘URAAN PAKISTAN’ initiative.
This strategic vision aims to propel Pakistan towards a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and an ambitious $3 trillion milestone by 2047.
Expressing optimism, he affirmed that this long-term blueprint would ensure consistent and sustainable national progress.
The Minister highlighted the necessity of an “economic long march,” free from political instability, to achieve the country’s development aspirations.

He warned that recurring political and financial disruptions serve as obstacles to Pakistan’s economic advancement.
He further elaborated on the significance of boosting exports, stating that economic sovereignty is contingent on increasing foreign exchange reserves.
Applauding the current administration’s financial strategies under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, he credited them for establishing a foundation for economic expansion.
Minister Ahsan Iqbal urged Pakistanis, particularly those residing abroad, to endorse the URAAN PAKISTAN initiative.
He recognized expatriates as Pakistan’s invaluable resource and stressed that global technological transformations demand Pakistan’s adaptation to remain competitive.
“This initiative will integrate our economy with emerging technologies,” he emphasized.
Moreover, he underlined the importance of unity and national cohesion in driving economic prosperity. Expressing concern over political rhetoric that tarnishes Pakistan’s reputation.
He encouraged citizens to embody diligence, intellect, and integrity as a testament to their national strength.
Discussing Pakistan’s developmental hurdles, the Minister noted that political uncertainty, inconsistent policies, and instability have hindered growth. He urged the nation to reflect on past missteps and work toward a stable economic environment.
Minister Ahsan Iqbal also highlighted Pakistan’s untapped mineral wealth, valued in trillions, and referenced key developmental projects in Balochistan, aiming to transform it into the country’s most advanced region.
Furthermore, he announced government initiatives to train 200,000 youth annually in IT and facilitate the training of 1,000 agricultural specialists in China to modernize the farming sector.
“We are steadfast in our mission to make Pakistan a trillion-dollar economy by 2035. Our homeland is our identity, and we will safeguard its future at all costs,” he concluded.
