Former cricketer Misbahul Haq has recently criticized Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam for his inability to perform under pressure, especially in crucial moments during ICC tournaments.
With Pakistan already facing two defeats in the ongoing T20 World Cup, the team’s situation has become precarious, necessitating victories in their remaining matches to secure a spot in the Super 8.
In a discussion on a local sports channel, Misbah pointed out Babar’s repeated failures to deliver when it matters most. “Babar Azam is playing his fourth World Cup as captain. When the pressure mounts, he needs to step up and prove his mettle,” Misbah remarked.
Emphasizing the significance of performing under pressure, Misbah stated that personal achievements lose significance if a player cannot handle critical situations effectively.
He lamented Babar’s inability to lead the team effectively in four World Cups since 2019, despite his considerable talent and numerous performances. Misbah believes that Babar’s underperformance in such crucial tournaments has been one of the key reasons behind Pakistan’s struggles.
With matches against Canada today and Ireland on June 16, Pakistan’s remaining fixtures in the T20 World Cup are pivotal for their chances of progressing further in the tournament.
