Islamabad, May 4, 2025: Punjab Kings have signed Australian batter Mitchell Owen to replace the injured Glenn Maxwell in IPL 2025.
Owen will join PBKS after completing his current stint with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Owen, a 23-year-old top-order batter from Tasmania, has been making waves on the T20 circuit, particularly after a breakout season in BBL.
Playing for Hobart Hurricanes, he topped the BBL run charts and smashed 108 off 42 in the final to win Player of the Match.

He ended the season with 452 runs in 11 innings, boasting a strike rate of over 200 and an average of 45.20.
The young all-rounder, also a medium pacer, later featured in SA20 and PSL, replacing Corbin Bosch at Peshawar Zalmi.
Bosch withdrew from the PSL to join Mumbai Indians in place of injured Lizaad Williams, prompting a one-year ban from the PCB.

Although Owen was not picked in the final IPL 2025 auction list, he had registered for the event, making him eligible as a mid-season replacement.
ESPNcricinfo reports Owen will travel to India after Zalmi’s PSL run, with their final group match set for May 9.
If they reach the playoffs, Owen could be available for PBKS just ahead of the IPL playoffs.
PBKS coach Ricky Ponting, who also oversees strategy for the Hobart Hurricanes, has reportedly kept a close eye on Owen’s rapid rise in T20 cricket.
