Members of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee expressed strong resentment over the recent surge in Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) fares, with MNA Shagufta Jumani revealing that she has stopped traveling with the airline as it has become unaffordable.

According to details, the meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Government Assurances was held under the chairpersonship of Senator Nuzhat Sadiq. Officials from the ministries of Energy, Communications, Information, and Parliamentary Affairs attended the session.

During the session, lawmakers voiced anger over the sharp rise in PIA ticket prices. MNA Shagufta Jumani said, “A one-way PIA ticket from Karachi to Islamabad costs no less than Rs. 60,000.”

She added, “If I’m wrong, shame on me — all members from Karachi can confirm this.”

The committee discussed several other issues, including gas supply, the quality of LPG cylinders, and excessive toll rates on motorways.
