Islamabad, June 25, 2025: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that monsoon rains in Karachi and various parts of Sindh are expected to begin on June 25, continuing intermittently until June 28.
According to the latest weather advisory, moist currents from the Arabian Sea are steadily advancing toward the region and are predicted to strengthen in the coming days. This shift in weather is likely to bring rain, windstorms, and thundershowers to several cities, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, Tharparkar, and Mirpurkhas.
Scattered Showers and Humid Conditions Forecast
Karachi residents should prepare for humid and cloudy weather conditions over the next few days, with chances of rainfall particularly during nighttime and early morning hours. While the showers are expected to bring relief from the prolonged heatwave, they may also cause serious disruptions in urban areas.
The PMD has warned that urban flooding is a potential threat between June 26 and June 28, especially in low-lying zones of Karachi and Hyderabad. A sudden burst of heavy rainfall within a short span could lead to severe water accumulation, posing risks to commuters and property.
Authorities on High Alert, Citizens Urged to Stay Safe
In light of the upcoming monsoon activity, local authorities have been urged to remain vigilant and take preventive measures to avoid flood-related emergencies. Citizens are advised to limit unnecessary movement, avoid driving through flooded streets, and report any incidents to disaster response teams.
The weather department also highlighted the possibility of strong winds, lightning, and falling objects such as weak trees, poles, and billboards. Farmers and travelers are advised to reschedule outdoor activities and stay updated with the latest forecasts.
The recent light showers have already offered a brief reprieve from the scorching weather, with Karachiites stepping out to enjoy the refreshing change. However, widespread concerns over power outages, blocked drains, and infrastructure vulnerability persist ahead of the heavy rainfall.
