Islamabad, June 26, 2025: A new spell of monsoon showers has started in multiple regions of the country, providing relief from the intense heat. However, the situation has raised concerns over urban flooding and rising water levels in rivers.
Rawalpindi and Islamabad saw light showers whereas, in Lahore, heavy rainfall paired with thunder affected several neighborhoods.
Nonetheless, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted on-and-off rain for the day, predicting about possible water accumulation in low-altitude zones.
WASA Rawalpindi has been placed on high readiness, with the Managing Director confirming that emergency response units and heavy equipment have been stationed in high-risk areas. “All vulnerable zones are under close watch and we are fully equipped to manage any circumstances,” the official noted.
