Islamabad, Aug 1, 2025: In a positive development for individuals looking to obtain a driving license in Quetta, the Motorway Police has inaugurated a new Driving License Authority in the city. This initiative aims to simplify the process of securing both domestic and overseas driving permits for residents.
This marks the third such setup launched by the Motorway Police, following earlier establishments in Islamabad and Sheikhupura.
According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ashfaq Ahmed, groundwork for this facility began two years ago, and the center became fully operational last year. Since its opening, more than 2,000 licenses have already been issued through this center.
DIG Ashfaq Ahmed stated that the authority utilizes an advanced and efficient testing mechanism, enabling eligible candidates to receive their licenses the same day they clear the exam. The core objective is to promote responsible driving behavior and cut down on road mishaps caused by unskilled drivers.

He further mentioned that the Motorway Police Highway Force is actively overseeing routes in Balochistan, including stretches from Quetta to Kalat and Uthal to Hub. However, with only 1,000 officers currently serving in the region, there is a pressing need to boost manpower to effectively handle the increasing traffic flow. Plans are underway to expand the workforce for better traffic supervision and enforcement.
This newly established driving license in Quetta center is expected to significantly support the residents of Balochistan and help build a culture of safer driving practices nationwide.
