Islamabad, June 23, 2025: To ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow during Muharram 2025, the City Traffic Police Peshawar has rolled out a robust traffic management plan across the city. The initiative comes ahead of major religious gatherings and processions scheduled from the 7th to the 10th of Muharram.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Haroon Rashid Khan confirmed the deployment of over 1,000 traffic officials, including wardens, motorcycle squads, and forklift teams. These personnel have been strategically positioned across Peshawar to tackle congestion, enforce road closures, and support emergency response measures.
In a citywide inspection drive, traffic officers have been actively surveying all procession routes. Acting on directives from the CTO, officials issued immediate instructions to resolve concerns raised by religious organizations. The routes leading to major Imambargahs and mourning sites will be completely sealed off for general traffic during key Muharram days. However, alternative routes have been mapped out to ease public inconvenience.
“Special attention is being given to areas near Imambargahs. Our teams will remain on-ground to resolve any issue on the spot,” CTO Haroon Rashid stated. He also emphasized the department’s readiness to take swift action wherever logistical or safety concerns arise.
