Islamabad, Aug 23: A massive operation against parking breaches in the city was carried out by teams from the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and the Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA), which resulted in the closure of almost 70 homes.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq gave the order to start the operation. The TEPA Enforcement Wing focused on the following areas: Johar Town, Shadiwal to Khokhar Chowk, PIA Road, Faisal Town Main Boulevard, and the neighboring communities.
Well-known businesses, tire stores, showrooms, private offices, shops, restaurants, and schools were among the blocked sites. In addition, the list contained private banks, eateries, medical facilities, bakeries, and coffee shops that had intruded upon parking spots that were allotted for them.
In a related event, Nursery Stop to Chandni Chowk in the vicinity of Peco Road Sattokatla Drain was visited by LDA DG Tahir Farooq. Sahibzada Yusuf, Assistant Commissioner Model Town, gave him an update on the current encroachment-fighting operation. He stated that Nursery Stop’s encroachments along the Chandni Chowk Drain had been cleared up, and the road had been made wider. At the location, trees were being planted by the District Administration and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA). After assessing the development, the LDA DG gave new directions to enhance citizen convenience.
LDA DG Tahir Farooq also stopped by the LDA Citizen Facilitation Center, also known as the One Window Cell, to check on the status of both sifted and non-sifted files as well as the daily applications. In a briefing, Chief Town Planner-I Asdulzaman and Director of the Citizen Facilitation Center Rafia Nazir noted that the online residential building plan approval procedure was still in progress. 29 candidates have submitted their challans out of the 116 applications that have been received thus far. All 29 of the residential building plans have received online approval.
According to Tahir Farooq, the ability for residents to use the LDA’s website and mobile app to approve their plans from home has been a huge benefit of the online process for building plan approval. In addition, he spent time hearing the worries of the attendees at the Facilitation Center.
