Islamabad, July 17, 2025: GT Road in Murree has been shut down for all traffic after a dangerous landslide occurred near the Salgran area due to continuous heavy rainfall. The incident has caused massive disruptions, prompting authorities to advise travelers to use alternative routes such as the Murree Expressway.

While visiting the site, Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi and District Police Officer Asif Amin Awan narrowly escaped a life-threatening accident. As large rocks and boulders began tumbling down the hillside, the DPO’s vehicle was almost crushed by a falling rock. Thankfully, no major injuries were reported inside the car.

However, DC Shirazi was hit by a stone and suffered a fractured foot. He was immediately transported to THQ Hospital for medical treatment. Officials confirmed that his condition is stable.

The landslide not only blocked the main highway but also led to the collapse of a significant portion of the road. Emergency response teams are already working on clearing the debris, but ongoing rain is hampering the repair process.
