Islamabad, Aug 11, 2025: Murree authorities have announced the imposition of Section 144 for three days during the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, citing security and crowd management concerns.

The order will be in place on August 12, 13, and 14, 2025, restricting access to Mall Road and GPO Chowk to families only during these dates.

The notification, issued by Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, follows recommendations from the District Intelligence Committee during its July 30 meeting. Officials noted the possibility of heavy gatherings and unrest during the holiday period, prompting the precautionary move.

According to the order, Section 144 will remain enforced throughout the specified days, and anyone found violating the rules will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The step is aimed at ensuring smooth celebrations while safeguarding public safety.
