ISLAMABAD, July 18: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has started disbursing Rs 3.2 billion among the victims of the Eden Housing Scam, as part of its ongoing recovery efforts.
Chairman NAB, Lt. Gen. (R) Nazir Ahmad, stated that 11,880 victims had filed claims worth Rs 13 billion. In a notable development, NAB secured a plea bargain of Rs 16 billion—23% more than the total claims—ensuring better compensation for those affected.
According to the chairman, NAB Lahore has recovered Rs 11.8 billion so far, of which Rs 8.6 billion has already been distributed. With the current fifth instalment of Rs 3.2 billion underway, efforts continue to recover the remaining Rs 4.2 billion. He commended NAB Lahore’s performance in the case, calling it deserving of recognition.

In a move to simplify the compensation process, Lt. Gen. (R) Nazir Ahmad announced that victims will now receive payments directly into their bank accounts through a newly introduced digital system, eliminating the need to visit NAB offices.
He lauded the proactive efforts of NAB Lahore and its investigation teams in tackling fraudulent housing schemes. Since its inception, NAB has reportedly recovered a record Rs 236 billion, with Rs 233 billion already distributed to nearly 94,000 victims.
Looking ahead, the NAB chairman also revealed plans for a large-scale nationwide operation against illegal allotments of public land, in collaboration with provincial authorities.

Director General NAB Lahore, Ghulam Safdar Shah, reiterated the bureau’s accomplishments, highlighting total recoveries of Rs 236 billion—Rs 45.5 billion through direct recoveries, Rs 177 billion indirectly, Rs 12 billion via settlements, and Rs 1 billion in fines imposed by courts.
