Islamabad, Apr 14, 2025: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) of Pakistan has rolled out a significant upgrade to its Pak ID mobile application by incorporating biometric login authentication.
This new layer of protection is specifically aimed at boosting data security for overseas Pakistanis, especially those based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Pak ID app, which facilitates the online issuance of identity credentials like the Smart NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis), will now demand biometric verification when a user attempts to log in using a new device.
According to NADRA officials, this step will greatly reduce the chances of data breaches, unauthorized logins, and identity misuse.
“This advanced security mechanism has been introduced to ensure the safety of users’ personal records while eliminating the threat of identity fraud and illegal access to Pak ID accounts,” NADRA stated in a press release.
Designed with user convenience in mind, the Pak ID application simplifies the process of applying for and renewing official identification documents.
It empowers both domestic and international Pakistanis to complete their documentation from the comfort of their mobile phones—eliminating the need for physical visits to NADRA offices.

By integrating biometric validation, NADRA aims to create a secure digital environment where individuals can access essential ID-related services with confidence.
The addition of fingerprint-based login ensures that only legitimate users can reach their profiles and process their documents safely.
This update reflects NADRA’s commitment to digital transformation and better user experience.
It not only saves valuable time for applicants but also builds trust in the security of Pakistan’s digital governance systems.
With this development, Pakistan continues its journey toward modernized public services, making it easier for citizens abroad to stay connected with their national identity systems through mobile technology.
The upgraded Pak ID app is now live and available on both Android and iOS platforms, featuring the latest biometric login tool to maximize account protection.
