The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has made life easier for citizens by removing the need to physically visit union councils for birth and death registrations.

In a move towards building a Digital Pakistan, NADRA has started an online facility where people can complete these registrations from home through the Pak ID mobile app.

With this system, the details go straight to the concerned union council, cutting down the hassle of long trips and queues. For now, the service is active in three districts:

  1. Chakwal – 71 union councils
  2. Jhelum – 44 union councils
  3. Nankana Sahib – 65 union councils

NADRA confirmed it will expand the service to all districts of Pakistan in different phases so everyone can use this digital registration system.

In addition, NADRA’s Pak-Identity portal is providing online facilities like CNIC renewal, reprint, and modification. However, people applying for their first CNIC still need to visit NADRA’s office in person. This step is important as it ensures each citizen is officially recognised and included in the country’s records.
