Islamabad, Jan 6: In a significant move to improve passport services for citizens, the Passport Department, under the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, has introduced 10 dedicated passport processing counters at NADRA Mega Centres in Karachi’s Nazimabad and Siemens Chowrangi. These counters will operate 24/7, ensuring round-the-clock availability of passport services for the public.
Director General Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, announced that this initiative is part of a broader effort to expand 24-hour passport counters across the country. The new service in Karachi follows the successful implementation of similar operations in Islamabad, where the office has been functioning round the clock for some time. Additionally, offices in Karachi’s Awami Markaz and Lahore’s Garden Town also offer 24/7 passport services.
This initiative aims to address the long-standing issue of delays in passport issuance, which has often led to frustration among citizens. With these new counters in place, the Passport Department ensures that citizens can now access passport services at any time of day or night, making the process more efficient and timely.
The move comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Interior Ministry to streamline government services and reduce waiting times for citizens. By extending operating hours and providing more accessible locations, the government hopes to improve the overall experience for individuals applying for passports. With this nationwide expansion of 24-hour passport counters, the department is poised to meet the increasing demand for passport services and ensure smoother travel arrangements for Pakistani citizens.
