Islamabad, 13 June 2025: Block Unverified SIM that is the message from Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), which has issued a formal alert to individuals holding Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) that expired back in 2018.

According to the announcement, all mobile phone SIMs registered against these outdated identity cards will be deactivated after July 31, 2025, unless the CNICs are renewed beforehand.

NADRA officials have confirmed that this measure is part of an ongoing effort to enhance digital security and prevent misuse of identity credentials in telecom services. Holders of expired 2018 ID cards are being strongly encouraged to complete the renewal process promptly in order to prevent service suspension.

Block Unverified SIM applies to all telecom connections linked to lapsed documentation. To avoid disconnection, affected users can update their ID cards by visiting the nearest NADRA registration facility or using the Pak-ID mobile application, which provides a remote method for document renewal.

In a public statement, the authority stressed the urgency of compliance, warning that delays may lead to interruption of mobile services, especially for users who rely on their SIMs for banking, communication, and authentication services.
