Islamabad, Dec 10: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is simplifying ID card applications in Karachi with the installation of self-service kiosks at key locations such as mega centers, railway stations, airports, shopping malls, educational institutions, and government offices.
The initiative follows a successful trial in Islamabad, aiming to reduce long queues at NADRA centers. The kiosks will support renewing ID cards, replacing lost ones, and obtaining Child Registration Certificates (Form B). Users can input details, perform biometric verification, take photos, and choose processing speeds (urgent or normal). Payments can be made via JazzCash, Easypaisa, or cards, with cards delivered in 15–30 days.
Assistant Director Ammar Haider confirmed initial deployment in Karachi’s mega centers, with further expansion planned. This service promises efficiency, accessibility, and reduced wait times for residents.
Additionally, NADRA has announced that overseas Pakistanis in Canada can obtain their National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) through NADRA or consulates. NICOP enables dual nationals to travel to Pakistan visa-free, with applications also accepted online.
