Islamabad, Mar 3, 2025: A petrol station owner in Narowal has taken a compassionate step during Ramadan by lowering fuel prices, offering relief to the public during the sacred month. Instead of charging the official rate of Rs. 257.24 per liter, he has voluntarily reduced the price to Rs. 254.24 per liter, a move that has been met with widespread appreciation from residents.
Rana Ashfaq, the station’s owner, has further announced an even greater price cut in celebration of Eid. On that day, he plans to sell petrol at a discount of Rs. 10 per liter below the official rate, allowing customers to benefit from significant savings.
Speaking to journalists, he highlighted the importance of generosity during Ramadan, emphasizing that acts of kindness bring divine blessings. He stated that sharing wealth only leads to its increase and that he hopes his initiative encourages others to support the community during this special time.
Addressing concerns about the financial impact on his business, Ashfaq explained that while profit margins might shrink, the increase in customer flow helps balance the reduction. More importantly, he stressed that his focus during Ramadan is on service rather than financial gain. He also urged businesses and authorities to follow suit by reducing the prices of essential commodities to ease the economic strain on the public.
In a separate development, the federal government has also made a slight adjustment to fuel prices. According to a notification from the Finance Division, petrol has been reduced by Re. 0.50 per liter, bringing the new official price to Rs. 255.63 per liter. This minor decrease reflects changes in global oil markets.
With inflation continuing to challenge households, gestures like these whether from private business owners or official policymakers are seen as much-needed relief for consumers during Ramadan and Eid.
