Islamabad, June 12, 2025: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has extended his deep sympathy to Indian Prime Minister Modi over the tragic Air India crash that occurred shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday..
In a social media post on X, Nawaz Sharif said, “This devastating loss transcends borders and reminds us of our shared humanity.”
Furthermore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives. Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister offered his condolences to those impacted by the crash, in which hundreds are declared dead.
He emphasised that Pakistan’s thoughts and prayers remain with all those mourning the loss of loved ones, and urged compassion above all else as the affected communities come to terms with the devastating news.

The London-bound Air India plane was carrying 242 passengers out of whom 169 were Indian nationals, 53 were British, 1 was Canadian and 7 were Portuguese nationals. 2 pilots and 10 crew members were also onboard. Indian media reported the plane only reached 625 feet before crashing at a speed of 322 km/h and crashed into a doctors’ hostel building, killing 12 more people who were inside at the time of impact.

The crash involved a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Authorities are now investigating the cause, while tributes and condolences continue to pour in from across the world.
