Islamabad, June 19, 2025: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a heatwave alert from from June 18 to 22, warning residents in vulnerable areas to take preventive steps, as scorching temperatures are expected reach high.
According to officials, heatwaves are likely to develop across sections of Sindh, South Punjab, eastern Balochistan, and southern stretches of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. While the advisory does not specify exact temperature readings, it stresses “extreme weather” and heightened health risks due to prolonged exposure.
Areas in Sindh like Jacobabad, Dadu, Larkana, Sukkur, Khairpur, and Nawabshah are projected to endure some of the highest temperatures. In neighboring Punjab, districts including Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan have also been identified as high-risk zones.

The situation is no less serious in Balochistan, where regions such as Sibi, Naseerabad, Dera Murad Jamali, and Jaffarabad may face severe daytime heat. Meanwhile, parts of southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Bannu, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan are expected to face sweltering conditions.
Precautionary Measures
NDMA representatives have urged citizens to follow safety advisories and to take precautionary measures. Staying indoor is recommended during peak hours. NDMA advisory furher focus on ensuring proper hydration, and caring for vulnerable individuals such as children, the elderly, and those with health conditions.
