Islamabad, Aug 9, 2025: Iran Air has launched its Quetta to Zahedan flight service, marking a new chapter in air connectivity between Pakistan and Iran.

The first Airbus A-319 landed at Quetta International Airport at 9:15 pm on Friday and, after a two-hour layover, took off for Zahedan—the capital of Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province—at 11:30 pm, carrying 75 passengers.

The Quetta to Zahedan flight will initially operate once a week, with the potential to add more flights depending on passenger demand. A formal inauguration ceremony took place at Quetta Airport, attended by officials from the Iranian Consulate in Quetta, members of the business community, and representatives of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Quetta Airport Manager Waheed Shah, Terminal Manager Ismail Khoso, and the Chief Security Officer of ASF were also present at the launch event.

Meanwhile, in a separate development last month, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that Pakistani pilgrims would be restricted from traveling by road to Iran and Iraq for Arbaeen due to safety concerns. The decision followed consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Balochistan Government, and relevant security agencies.
