Islamabad, July 10, 2025: Lionel Messi reached another landmark in his career as he etched his name in Major League Soccer (MLS) history during the New England vs Inter Miami encounter.
As reported by MLS Soccer, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner guided Inter Miami to a 2-1 triumph over New England in their midweek showdown by netting two goals in the opening half.
The Argentine star, following his commanding performance and a pair of goals against New England, became the first-ever player in MLS history to register multiple goals in four successive matches of the regular season.
Following his extraordinary display, the 38-year-old received applause from head coach Javier Mascherano, who remarked after the match, “I always mention that Leo is a unique player. In my opinion, the greatest to ever play this sport.”

“So, it’s unbelievable because he continues doing things that, maybe many, many years ago, we cannot see at this moment. But at the end, he’s a special player, we are lucky to have him,” he further said.
The scoring streak of the ex-Barcelona icon started before the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, when he bagged two goals each in victories over CF Montréal and the Columbus Crew.

This fresh milestone adds to his lengthy collection of accolades for Inter Miami, as he has already achieved the club’s all-time highest goal involvement record with 58 goals.
