The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched work on a new AI-based app designed to make immigration smoother and stop human smuggling. The app, powered by artificial intelligence, will first be tested at Islamabad International Airport as part of a pilot project.

FIA Director General Raja Riffat Mukhtar gave a detailed briefing to Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the FIA headquarters. He explained how the new technology will not only speed up passenger clearance but also strengthen measures against illegal travel networks.

Interior Minister Naqvi welcomed the step, saying the digital system will save passengers from long queues while ensuring better monitoring. He directed that funds be provided immediately to upgrade FIA’s IT infrastructure and ordered renovation of the FIA headquarters.

The minister also instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to hand over the newly allotted land for the FIA Academy without delay. Noting staff shortages, he asked the agency to start recruitment on already approved vacant positions.

Reassuring full government backing, Naqvi told FIA officials, “Resources will be provided, but performance must also improve.” The FIA AI-based app is seen as a step toward modernizing border management and tackling human smuggling more effectively.
